The Mars helicopter - Ingenuity

Recently I read an article about "Ingenuity Mars", a NASA's helicopter which has completed the first-ever powered, controlled flight on another planet. The robotic craft rose into the Martian sky to a height of about 3 meters and then it returned to the "red" surface. Date from the helicopter's flight came back to Earth a few hours after the autonomous test via a satellite at Mars. The Ingenuity flight lasted less than a minute, however the space agency considers it an incredible breakthrough in the world of science and exploration. In addiction, in their opinion, it is a glimpse into the future of Mars missions and other destinations in the our solar system, such as Venus and Saturn's moon Titan. In the following days, the agency announced further, more risky flights, but maybe thanks to them we will gain access to areas inaccessible to rovers, and this would allow us to explore completely new, alien terrains.

In my opinion, it is a great news for our humanity which can have a huge impact for our future! This short flight is the beginning of a further exploration of our solar system.

  1. To me, it is another proof that our brains and our ability to do science is what makes humans so exceptional. Even if I am not that keen on Mars being explored by one company or state.
