Fashion 1970s
Fashion 1970s was varied. Three main styles stood out during this period: hippie, disco and punk. Each of them was strongly associated with the socio-political changes and music of this time. The 1970 is a turn towards naturalism and freedom. Fashion was an expression of one’s personality. People dressed what they wanted and how they wanted. Vogue declared “There are no rules of the fashion game now. You’re playing it and you make up the game as you go.” It was a decade when colors dominated - there was no place for boredom! In the 1970s were fashionable: bell bottom pants and jeans, mini skirt, platform shoes, knee-high socks, jumpsuits, vinyl clothing, wide collars, striped prints, maxi or midi dresses and shiny shirts in the style of John Travolta from movie „Saturday night fever”. Women in 70s had long dissolved hair with characteristic curly ends. They liked to colour their hair blonde, wore fringes and braids. Backcombing of hair was also fashionable, as well as afro!

I remember those times and they didn't seem as free as you say. Just like at any other time, you kind of HAD TO wear flared trousers, flowery prints and long shirt collars.
