Little black dress
Little black dress is a simply cut and usually fitted black formal or cocktail dress, but for fashion history it is so much more that only dress! The creation on this outfit is attributed to designers such as Coco Chanel and Jean Patou in 1920s. This dress intended to be long- lasting, versatile, affordable and accessible to the widest market possible offered in a neutral color. That was appropriate and conventional for women of all social classes, which was key during after a economic crisis in 1920s.
In 1926, simple black dress from Chanel appeared in the American Vogue. Magazine said that it would become „a sort of uniform for all women of taste”from then on black dress has become high-class dress, wealthy and chic. However, Hollywood’s influced helped in the popularity of this outfit, because dresses in other colors appeared distored-on screen. This dress was used among others, in the movie „Breakfast at the Tiffany” Audrey Heburn wore little black dress combined with pearls, which became a fashion staple.
